A school on the cutting edge
We raise children who are aware that they belong to the European Community and to a much larger world full of challenges and opportunities. We believe in the importance of knowledge of foreign languages and multimedia languages for personal and professional training in today's increasingly global and interconnected society.
By pedagogical choice we juxtapose language learning with other educational activities aimed precisely at developing curiosity, questioning and discernment skills designed to enhance the talents of each individual student.
Educational Offerings
Through the study of three foreign languages (English, French and Spanish) and EU culture, we focus on the acquisition of language-communication skills necessary for the "European citizen" to cope with real-life situations. But the plan also broadens the horizon beyond Europe by providing for the teaching of the Arabic language.
The humanistic approach is then complemented and reinforced by the scientific disciplines, Mathematics, Science and, for those who wish, Computer Science, which we propose and recommend as an enrichment option.
Equality and inclusion
Regardless of gender, ethnicities, languages, religions, political views, psychophysical and socioeconomic conditions
The school is a privileged and fundamental place of education and formation of the person, and therefore of the civil society of which it is a part, through the instrument of culture, the positive development of responsibility and participation in the educational project. It must be a community of dialogue, research, social experience and both personal and collective growth; it must have, as constant points of reference, the democratic values on which our Constitution is based, such as freedom of expression, thought, conscience and religion.
At Keynes Institute we view high school students as emerging adults. The first year of high school sees the beginning of an exciting journey in which the student has begun to make key decisions for his or her schooling. The choice of linguistics denotes a definite orientation toward different cultures and a desire to make the world one's home. Pupils who enroll in linguistics, whether they are pupils who already come from our school or students from other schools, become part of a community oriented toward foreign cultures whose respective languages become tools of discovery. Students achieve, already in the first year, a proper balance between expressing their personalities and creativity and being guided by teachers and tutors to discover a new, more organized method of study that will make them more aware of their abilities and more autonomous in time management.
The presence of native teachers from various parts of the world will be one of the most inspiring elements. With them, and with other staff members, pupils will come together in informal moments that are meant to create the group and make the school feel like their place. A place where they want to, and should not, be. At Keynes Institute Language High School, foreign languages are acquired, just as one did with one's native language, through the natural language acquisition cycle. "Practice first and then grammar" means focusing on what you want to say and not on how to say it correctly. The language will be understandable first, correct later and perfect at the end. An easy, fast and effective path.
The Two-Year Plan of Study: Italian, Latin, Geography, English, Mathematics, Science, Physical Education, Civics, French, Spanish, Religion or, alternatively, Arabic. Three years: Italian, History, Philosophy, Mathematics, Physics, Physical Education, Science, Civics, Art History, French, Spanish, Religion or, alternatively, Arabic.
The first year of high school is the beginning of a new and exciting journey. It marks the transition to an age when important decisions begin to be made. The Keynes Institute, unlike other schools, immediately begins an orientation path that serves to accompany the student toward the choices of adulthood. The choice of the scientific already goes in a clear direction. The school supports pupils on this path through experimentation, which is of great importance. New students in the scientific, from our school or from other schools, become part of a science- and experimentation-oriented community that looks toward the future of professions (medical, physical, mathematical, engineering, etc.). In their first year, students need the guidance of teachers and tutors to achieve the right balance between expressing their personalities and creativity while at the same time acquiring a new, more organized method of study that will make them more aware of their abilities and more autonomous in time management.
The testimonies of men and women from the world of scientific professions constitutes a moment of comparison and greater inspiration. With them, and with the professors, pupils will meet in empowerment programs that aim to strengthen the class group and collaboration among students. The school, thanks to the peaceful and collaborative atmosphere, is experienced as the students' home. At Keynes Institute High School of Science, students expand their horizons and prepare for the challenges they will face after school. Foreign languages play an important role in view of careers outside the borders of Italy. English, in particular, is the language of the scientific community, and all our students are fluent in it by the end of high school.
