Universal Civil Service

Schools International Soc. Coop. selects 12 young people
for the Keynes Institute

The Keynes Institute participates in the national Universal Civil Service program, offering young people the opportunity to enjoy an experience of personal and professional growth within a dynamic educational context oriented towards pedagogical innovation. The project active at our institute is entitled "Educating Beyond Barriers" and is part of the "Educating Communities" intervention program . The initiative stems from the awareness that education is one of the main tools for improving people's quality of life and strengthening the social fabric of communities. In a context where educational challenges are increasingly complex, the project aims to support the growth of children and young people by promoting educational environments that enhance individual potential and foster harmonious personal development. The project is based on the idea that children and young people are not simply passive recipients of education, but active protagonists in their own learning process. Through experience, interaction with others, and interaction with the environment, each child progressively builds their own knowledge and skills. For this reason, it is essential to offer educational contexts rich in cultural, relational, and emotional stimuli, in which it is possible to experiment, express oneself, and develop a sense of belonging to the community.

As part of this program, Civil Service volunteers will work alongside educators and operators in daily activities aimed at minors, contributing to the creation of educational, artistic, expressive, and motor skills workshops, as well as school tutoring and basic skills enhancement activities. Volunteers will also be involved in organizing cultural events, initiatives aimed at families, and activities that promote contact with nature and education on sustainability. Their role will always be to support the educational team, within a team effort focused on nurturing relationships and enhancing the abilities of each child. The Civil Service experience represents a valuable opportunity for training and growth for young people. During their period of service, volunteers will take part in a structured training program that will allow them to explore educational, psychological, and relational issues, acquiring skills that will be useful both personally and professionally. At the end of the experience, a certificate of the skills acquired will be issued. The project lasts twelve months and requires a weekly commitment of twenty-five hours spread over five days. Twelve places are available for volunteer workers at the Keynes Institute in Palermo. Young people interested in participating in the project can submit their application via the Universal Civil Service online platform by 2:00 p.m. on April 8, 2026.
